Personally, I've been using Torque for two projects now and I think it's
the greatest thing since sliced bread.  It does everything I need it to
do - with the small exception that it doesn't handle "outer joins" too
well.  

But the fact that it essentially generates Java classes that operate as
nested beans makes my life really great with Struts.  Unless
security/control is a big issue, I can just place the base object (in my
case, a Person) into a form and reference everything via nested
properties (ie, person.currentAddress.city, person.orders, etc.)  Plus,
if you enable it, calling Save on the person object will call Save on
all the children objects - allowing you to update everything about a
person on one page and then just call "save".  Works like a charm for
me.
