I'm highly skeptical of Oracle's proposal. Should there really be a one size fits all IDE API? I think the competition between NetBeans, Eclipse and others is better in many regards. It might be nice for .NET developers to have one "standard" IDE choice but they're also limited by what Microsoft can think up.
