Without speaking to the rest of the thread, I reguarly put ActionForms through much more abuse than that =:0)
I find its quite useful to consider the ActionForm a "presentation helper", embellished with whatever methods you need to get the job done.
Often the answer to a lot of "how do I get a tag to ..." questions is to slap a method on the ActionForm that does the dirty work.
