I placed the line <script src="sortTable.js"></script> in the header of the
page.
But it is perhaps the call to the initTable() method that is bad.
I must this call <script>initTable("table0");</script> after the definition
of
the table, isn't it ?
I thus do not have several solutions.
I think that it is rather the Javascript which is not called.
Even when I add the alert() function no message is posted.
In the JavaScript file which I downloaded it is said that the call
to the initTable() function must be associated with onLoad event in <BODY>.
But I used Tiles components and in the tag body the table that I wish to
sort
is not yet defined.
Would somebody have another Javascript allowing to sort a table ?
This functionality (sort of a table) is rather current, how do you solve it?
We find solution on the net but the difficulty is to inter-connect them with
the
components of Struts.
Tanks a lot for the JavaScript tutorial but I have very little time to
finish
my application and I hoped not to need to understand in detail the
JavaScript syntax
I thought of being able to use components without needing to apprehend a new
technology.
The web is very complex.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Generally the JS include (<script src="sortTable.js"></script>) should go in
the head of the document so that the objects and/or functions defined in it
will be global to the page. The alert() function just displays a dialog
window with a message. It's like using println() to debug java code.

Sorry, but I don't know JavaScript very well and I don't
understand your remark.
In my example the call to the function initTable("table0");
is done after the definition of the table <table id="table0".
So the navigator know its name, isn't it ?
it is probably the JavaScript which is not called.
but I do not know how to make this test.
I added the line alert("function found and starting..");,but nothing
what is the aim of this instruction ?
I joined the JavaScript.
Thanks in advance for your help

As the 'initFunction' function has a parameter which is the name of the
table, its call should stay at the bottom of the page. If you put it at the
top, there will be an error because the table hasn't been yet processed by
the navigator so it can't know its name. To ensure the script is called,
just put a debugging message at the first line of 'initFunction' in your
script, such as
alert("function found and starting..");
