OK, but I don't understand where the bean:message comes in now?
How does the key get accessed through the ResourceBundle?

Try something like this:

Template.jsp:
...
    <tiles:insert attribute='menu' >
       <!-- pass the title to the menu-->
       <tiles:put name="title" beanName="title" beanScope="request"/>
    </tiles:insert>
...

in menu.jsp:
<bean:message key='<tiles:getAsString name="title" />' />

I am trying, unsuccesfully to create an ApplicationResource driven label for

the menu.jsp. Can anyone help get this to work:

<bean:message key='<tiles:getAsString name="title" />' />
