Just found this at http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/strutsscripting
>From their Overview: The ScriptedAction is a Struts Action class that uses BSF (Bean Scripting Framework) to enable Struts developers to create Struts Actions in the language of their choice. Supported languages include: JavaScript, Jython, Jacl, ActiveScript, PerlScript and others. When specifying the type of an action, the ScriptedAction is specified and the parameter attribute is used to tell the ScriptedAction which script to load and execute. The ScriptedAction uses BSF to setup the script runtime environment with declared variables for the arguments typically passed to the execute method of an action, as well as a context object that provides a way for the script to specify the forward for the action to return. Currently, there is some function for customizing the execution environment of scripts to make the scripting of Actions easier and friendlier by allowing the definition of predefined variables and functions available to all scripts. Future plans include an extension mechanism to allow for the registration of new BSF engines and file extensions for different languages. Cheers, Gustavo
