I haven't figured out how to do it from the gui, but using a link works...

<a href="aim:GoChat?RoomName=struts">Join struts</a>

I'm not sure if the windows version of AIM allows you to "join" an existing
chat session.  Oh well, at least there's a work-around for it.

If you are stuck behind a firewall, change the port to use 23 instead of
5190.
Preferences -> Sign on/off -> Connection
