Thanks for the link to the docs.

I got the ff. from the docs a short while ago :

"filter If this attribute is set to true, the rendered property value will be 
filtered for characters that are sensitive in HTML, and any such characters 
will be replaced by their entity equivalents."

I have set the <bean:write> filter attrib. to 'true'
, however, my output is still the same. 

I do still get: 

"...you use UNIX, you probably use csh to type commands even if you&#039;ve 
never heard of it. It&#039;s the standard shell (command line) on most UNIX 
systems..."

instead of :
"....you use UNIX, you probably use csh to type commands even if you've never 
heard of it. It's the standard shell (command line) on most UNIX systems...."
