Subsequent to the development of that proposal, commons-jelly was created,
and seems like a much better approach to scripting things in XML than the
direction that the workflow project was headed.  The only thing that would
need to be added to Jelly is a way to suspend evaluation so that you could
script a multiple page request.

Sadly, I have not had any time to pursue this, but would welcome others
taking a crack at it.
