I think it should work - another thing to try would be to use maybe <sslext:rewrite for the actual action inside of a plain html <form. I have not tried this approach yet, but i will tonight... The behaviour you are showing (no parameters in the https page) is exactly what I was getting also. Do you have cookies enabled and URL rewriting?
