It looks like the id attribute of the tag doesn't accept run time
expressions. Have a look at the .tld for the attribute in quesion.

Subject: Bizarre Tag issue - help

Hi All,

I have a strange issue with a tag as follows

  <%= address.getStateId() %>
  <do:writeLabel id="<%= address.getStateId() %>" type="state" />

produces an int on the rendered page E.g. writes 21

however in the WriteLabelTag.class

  public void setId(int id) {
          System.out.println("\n\n\nset id = "+id+"\n\n\n");
          this.id = id;
      }

writes to System.out

  set id =<%= address.getStateId() %>

can anyone tell me what is going on here?

Thanks

Ross
