When i do something like you proposed
<bean:write name="users" property="userName"/>

 error: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Cannot find bean
sessionScope.users in any scope

In the action i have:
usersForm.setUsers(usersValues);

//-- assign form object to the request object

setForm(mapping, userForm, request);

//-- populate the form object

populateForm(form, request);
