Sorry, if my cross-post disturbed anybody, but file upload is part of commons but that worked fine. I had problems with tomcat (and not with the upload) and it was (is) just an idea that this pretty large upload could be the reason why tomcat hangs.
Martin, you wrote that uploaded files much larger than 70MB without any problems. What was your JVM settings? In my case tomcat-4.1.24 was running with -Xmx100M. Do you think that is too low?
