bean:write question

Hi,


Is there an elegant way to get the bean:write tag to encode space 
to   ?
I tried setting the attribute filter="true" but it doesn't encode space 
to  

I need to get this working, as consecutive spaces will be collapsed 
into one in HTML and I need to ensure that doesn't happen for proper 
data display.
