I think you may be looking for these commands: restart-hard restart-soft reload or quit
I'm not sure which one is appropriate for you, you should read the docstrings listed here: http://www.nongnu.org/stumpwm/manual/stumpwm_12.html#SEC33k Or in the stumpwm info manual under misc commands.
