Kill Bill Vol. 2
Reviewed by Abbie Bernstein
Rating: Four Stars
Last year, director/writer Quentin Tarantino brought forth "Kill Bill Vol. 1," his
sublime and ferociously energetic love letter to '60s/'70s exploitation movies. Now
he's back with the rest of the story in "Kill Bill Vol. 2," which is at once a perfect
companion piece that nevertheless manages to be significantly different in tone and
style. This is all the more surprising because "Kill Bill" was originally intended to
be one piece - however, it was felt that the unified edition would be too long for
many audiences to watch, so Tarantino and distributor Miramax cut it into two parts.
Tarantino has declared in the press that what reaches the theatres is the director's
cut, so we may never know whether the initial concept called for the first half (now
"Vol. 1") to contain the bulk of the action and the second ("Vol. 2") to turn
startlingly emotional and philosophical. Click here to read the full review

More Reviews of Quentin Tarantino Films

Pulp Fiction DVD Review
The pleasures of 'Pulp Fiction' are many and varied, ranging from writer/director
Quentin Tarantino's love of bad boy characters and dialogue to the opportunity to hear
Tim Roth use his own accent for once in an American movie. By now, sections of the
movie have been parodied in everything, even 'Antz.' Indeed, a whole (pretty lame)
feature-length send-up, 'Plump Fiction,' even found its way into theatres.

Jackie Brown DVD Review
Slick and smart, Jackie Brown (Pam Grier) is pinned against the wall by a gunrunning
gangster and an aggressive Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agent. One misstep
will mean her death. Carrying the black cloud of past sins over her head for the last
20 years, Jackie is currently barely making ends meet by working as a stewardess
aboard a small airline featuring trips from Los Angeles to Cabo, Mexico.
