Audio Video Education on RHT:
Protecting Your Software Collection

With consumers flocking to all sorts of new server-based storage systems,
ranging from Apple iPods to Media Center PCs to video servers like
Kaliedescapes $27,000 system, one truth remains: we still need to find a good
storage solution for our physical CDs and DVDs. While some throw caution to the
wind and simply trade in their discs as soon as they get a new server, those
end users are playing a high stakes game of poker. Anyone who has seen a hard
drive fail or a record company sue a consumer knows it is best to keep those
discs as a backup in the event that someday you will need them.

>From the early days of the compact disc, consumers were told that CDs and DVDs
>are virtually indestructible. I think the marketing line was perfect sound
>forever. The truth is that digital discs, like CDs, DVDs, video games and
>even good old laserdiscs, are fairly delicate. Its surprisingly easy to
>scratch, smudge or break discs, which can affect their ability to be read by
>your CD or DVD player or cause them to not work at all.

Take a look inside...

Revolution Home Theater Film Reviews

The Jacket
Reviewed by Bill Warren
Rating: One and a half Stars

The title refers to a strait-jacket the leading character is bundled up in
before being shoved into a chamber in a morgue. This is a form of extreme
psychotherapy, but while it does seem to make our hero a bit more sane, it also
sends him traipsing through time. Its an interesting idea and the movie has a
satisfying, if puzzling, ending. But its jumbled, scrambled and pompous in its
efforts to be oh-so-stylish. And its vastly overplotted.

It opens with the hero announcing that I was 27 years old the first time I
died. Thats arresting and intriguing. We see him an American soldier, being
very humane in the Gulf Warbut his well-intentioned efforts result in his
being shot through the head. He recovers in a Red Cross tent, but his memory is
impaired. The scenes of war, all filmed in a hot orange light, recur again and
again throughout the movie, usually in highly fragmented clips, just a couple
of frames at a time. This is vivid and memorableand has nothing at all to do
with the rest of the story.

Theres a real BOB behind every Sunfire product.

Ever seen a photo of Ronnie Rotel or Dick Denon? Unlike huge faceless
corporations, Sunfire is the unique, personal vision of one audio genius, Bob
Carver.

Most audio geniuses would be content to have founded just two landmark audio
companies. But after creating Phase Linear and Carver Corporation, Bob still
had more innovative technology in his system. He wanted to express these ideas
in meticulously-built, premium audio products that would offer exceptional
value and sound quality.

And thats what you get when you buy Sunfire. A great product from the mind and
soul of Bob Carver.

Bend It Like Beckham
Bend It Like Beckham was a theatrical hit in its native England last year,
and became a sleeper this year when it hit American movie houses. Its easy to
see why Beckham is a solid example of feel-good, triumph-over-adversity
British comedy/drama, in the mood of (though sharing no subject matter
whatsoever with) The Full Monty.

The title of Bend It Like Beckham refers to the ability of real-life British
football (thats soccer in the U.S.) champ David Beckham to send the ball
flying through the air, i.e., bend it. Beckham, who appears only as a poster
and in newsreel footage here, is the hero of Jess (Parminder Nagra), an English
girl who is the younger daughter of Sikh Punjabi immigrant parents, living in a
suburb of outer London with a large Indian community.

Pirates of the Caribbean
Pirates!

Just the mere mention of that word summons images and stories that have been
with audiences forever. The idea of a skull and crossbones mounted on a black
flag can still make hearts beat faster in expectation of feats of derring-do,
swordplay, and tall-masted ships with sails filled with the wind cutting
through the rough ocean while in pursuit of a secret and dangerous treasure.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been a movie and television powerhouse for some
time now, and his grasp and success seems constantly rising. Given that
"Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" is based on a Walt
Disney ride, audiences everywhere didn't know what to expect when they found
out a movie was in the works.

Once "Pirates of the Caribbean" set sail in movie theaters across the country...
