That is exactly what this client of Baumeister Electronic Architects did. They live in a beautiful Arts and Crafts residence outside Chicago, where the city had placed extremely tight rules and regulations on what could be done to the homes in that particular area. The square footage in this spacious home was such that a theater might be able to be squeezed in, but the homeowners also wanted to put in a game room and wine cellar. How were they going to do this and still adhere to the local building codes? The answer was to literally dig underneath the home. There are many challenges that face a home theater installer in any job, but when spelunking gets thrown into the mix, things can get really interesting. The space had to literally be carved out from underneath the home, so the utmost care and attention was paid not only the aesthetics of the room, but also to the structural integrity of the entire home. One wrong move could send this multimillion-dollar property crashing down into a pit. More like Seabiscuit Man. This big-scale biopic is all too clearly intended to repeat the responsecritical and financialto Seabiscuit of a couple of years ago. Its about a crowd-pleasing sport, it takes place during the 1930s, and the title character is depicted as the great come-from-behind champion who lifts the spirit of America during the Great Depression. The radio ads for Cinderella Man promote this as not just a good movie, but one of the best movies of all time. Thats not just shameless, its outrageous. Hell, its not even Ron Howards best movie as director. (For me, that remains Apollo 13.) Its a good enough Hollywood biopic, well-produced with attractive stars and a sure-fire story. Unlike huge faceless corporations, Sunfire is the unique, personal vision of one audio genius, Bob Carver. Most audio geniuses would be content to have founded just two landmark audio companies. But after creating Phase Linear and Carver Corporation, Bob still had more innovative technology in his system. He wanted to express these ideas in meticulously-built, premium audio products that would offer exceptional value and sound quality. And thats what you get when you buy Sunfire. A great product from the mind and soul of Bob Carver. http://www.avrev.com/splashpage/sunfire.html Revolution Home Theater Featured DVD Reviews Read Two More Russell Crowe DVD Reviews on RHT... Gladiator Giant jars of blazing oil slam into trees, inundating the warriors below with liquid fire. War machines fire arrows the size of spears, shishkabobbing men in fur cloaks. Gladiators dressed as minotaurs slam spiked balls into the heads of their opponents. Men on foot are forced to battle armor-clad charioteers. Tigers leap from beneath the floor of the Colosseum in ancient Rome and claw at our desperate hero. And 'Gladiator' is great fun between the astonishing action as well. Directed by Ridley Scott ('Alien,' 'Blade Runner'), 'Gladiator' is the first big-scale Hollywood epic about ancient Rome since THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE in 1964 -- and the two cover exactly the same period of Roman history, though this is more a coincidence than anything else. The story of 'Gladiator' extends from just prior to the death of the great emperor Marcus Aurelius to the death of his son and successor, the dissolute tyrant Commodus. Much has been made in the press of the movies divergence from historical fact about the man, but it still has undeniable power. In 1947, the young Nash arrives at Princeton University with a brain full of mathematical gifts and virtually no skills at human interaction. Despite this, he forms a strong friendship with his outgoing British roommate Charles (Paul Bettany) and forges more tentative bonds with a few of his fellow mathematics students (Adam Goldberg, Josh Lucas, Anthony Rapp). Nash shows signs of mental imbalance under the strain of trying to come up with a truly original idea under pressure, but when he succeeds, hes hailed as a genius. After graduation, Nash lands at MIT, reluctantly teaching classes... Click below to read the full review... http://www.avrev.com/dvd/revs/abeautifulmind.shtml Check out our DVD review archive.
