I too ran into the same issue which made me think:
Can we ditch maven and use gradle or something?
Coz, from what I've seen, each update of ADT, causes some issue in maven.
If gradle is used, there'd be no ugly consequences of maven's setup, and
one can use maven repo for dependency management through gradle.Avinash R
