Can we try to in general respond in-line and not top post?
I know that I'm occasionally guilty of doing this when I'm on my phone, 
but please try to keep the conversation easy to parse...

Yes, the fact that the desktop version tells you about the lack of a GPS
source is indeed unintentional and I'll turn that off once I'm done getting
things to build again...

You can simply leave the message alone. But yes. I'll deal with it.

Yes. Versions aren't linear. 4.5.3 branched off of master at 4.5.1 (== 4.5.2). 
So
master has seen 463 commits since then, 4.5.3 only contains a few dozen of them.
In the past I tended to try to merge back the stable branch into master simply 
to
avoid this confusion. I guess I could do that again.

Actually, there are a lot of 2-in-1 laptops out there (and even traditional 
laptops)
that have built in GPS. But still, you are unlikely to have those with you on 
the
dive boat :-)
