I think I understand it. In the Divinglog screen, the lines belonging to a single dive are closely-spaced. Conversely in Divinglog there is relatively wide line spacing between two consecutive dives, reinforced by the horizontal line. In Subsurface there is a more or less even spacing of lines both within and between consecutive dives: the horizontal line is the only indication that indicates the separation between consecutive dives. This makes it a bit more difficult to distinguish between consecutive dives in Subsurface.
