Simpler reproduction steps:

- Start Subsurface
- View dive
- Swipe to previous dive
- Go to dive list (hamburger and dive list from menu) - or select
"dive list" from the top bar
- Click the plus sign

This narrows down the possible causes as no more cloud sync involved.
This can also be triggered without the swipe:

- Start Subsurface
- View dive
- Select "dive list" form the top bar
- View next dive
- Select "dive list" form the top bar
- Click the plus sign
