Yes, the GPS coordinates are :
* DMS: 43°23'32.291"N 1°47'01.817"O (replace O by W for the English version).
* Dec.: 43.392303, -1.783838

Those geo tags are automatically retrieved from a web service (but you can turn
this off).

Can you share a complete entry with GPS coordinates so I can try to reproduce
this?

I finnally managed to recover my file by opening it with vim and editing the
lines with the strange value. Now the file is opened ok and Subsuface display
is fine.

But it seems there is a bug in Subsurface while creating a new dive site. It
adds strange tags by default. Moreover, I did not find where to edit those
tags, from subsurface. It seems it should be Country/town, or something like
that. Maybe auto-computed from GPS coordinates ?

Hi,

I have encountered a problem just now with Subsurface 4.6.4.

Until now, my special chars were ok (é, è, ....) and the XML file was UTF-8.

I have uploaded 6 new dives this morning, save it locally and synced to cloud.
I re-opened Subsurface after 1 hour or so and all my special chars are broken.
Launcing subsurface from a terminal indicate :
**************************************************
/home/guillaume/subsurface/guillaume.xml:70: parser error : Input is not proper
UTF-8, indicate encoding !
Bytes: 0x96 0xA7 0x3F 0x27
  <geo cat='2' origin='0' value='@?'/>

**************************************************

And the file type is now "Non-ISO extended-ASCII text".

Is it a Subsurface error while saving or a file corruption on disk?

Is there an easy way to recover a proper UTF-8 file?
