I just tried it again, after downloading the latest, latest Continuous
AppImage. Still doesn’t work.
I think I described the behavior slightly incorrectly before. It displays a red
bar at the bottom of the main window, that says “Failed to connect to
C2:02:D5:CD:61:A8: ‘Cannot find local adapter’”. It has an X all the way at the
right, allowing me to dismiss the message, but only after exiting from the
Download dialog. It doesn’t do that until I go into the Download dialog. And it
only did it the first time. If I stay in Subsurface but go out and back into
the dialog, I can’t get it to display again. Is it possible that the device ID
shown is coming from info created by the old version of Subsurface and that is
now messing things up somehow?
I am running Linux Mint 18.1 64-bit. I have the Shearwater dongle installed in
my laptop. When I open the Bluetooth tray app, it lists my Perdix. If I click
on it there, it says Connected. But, whether I do that before going into
Subsurface or not doesn’t change the behavior.
When I was running Subsurface 4.7.2 (installed from the PPA URL), I could go
into the Download dialog, then into the Remote Bluetooth device selection
dialog, and it would actually show my Perdix in the list of Discovered devices.
And it would show proper values in the Name and Address fields of the Local
Bluetooth device details group. Now, the Scan button (and everything else
except the Quit button) is greyed out and the Name and Address both say Not
available.
Here is a new run of the app with the –v switch:
stuartv@Force2Mint ~/Downloads $ ./Subsurface-577bf57-x86_64.AppImage -v
