UDDF import / export uses XSLT to convert the Subsurface XML to / from UDDF, so the parser / generator used is the same that is used to save and load Subsurface log files - so if this was caused by a bug in the parser then it is strange that this has not been reported already by users trying to load / save log files.
https://github.com/subsurface/subsurface/pull/4075 (mine) is another good candidate for having created a mess here. I'll look into this.
