Detailed Job Description

*** Position: 
Oracle Sr. Developer / DBA 
  
Key Goal of this Position: 
  
Writing PL/SQL, procedures, triggers, database architecture, security 
implementation and performance. 
  
Document / Maintain / Enhance Oracle database objects and  Processes. 
Responsibilities: 
·         Design and develop Oracle database objects, PL/SQL procedures and 
Triggers on Oracle 11g environment. 
·         Review and understand high level technical design. 
·         Design detailed technical program specification and develop code 
based on detailed design. 
·         Create unit test plan. 
·         Coordinate with groups and/or technologists assigned to project 
deliverables. 
·         Proactively identify and escalate risks/issues while driving toward 
proper resolution. 
·         Ensure all product documents (design, process diagrams, operational 
run-books, recovery manuals, etc) are completed. 
·         Conduct reviews and walk-through for deliverables. 
·         Enforce Change Management process standards and procedures 
·         Partner with internal clients, product management, business analysts 
and a team of technical specialists, such as ETL Engineers, SW Engineers, 
System Administrators (or Infrastructure Engineering) and other DBA’s to 
specify, design and build databases that meet the operational needs of the 
business.   
·         Analyze business and data requirements to determine feasibility and 
translate into documented technical specifications (such as data models and 
architectural documents). 
·         Implement data processing & automation techniques, back-up & 
archival, disaster recovery, security strategies, and performance tuning 
strategies.  Implement database designs. 
·         Document operational procedures and database designs.  
·         Co-operatively establish and follow standards, guidelines and best 
practices. 
·         Co-identify tools, technologies and methodologies that improve or 
leverage the design and operating effectiveness of the company’s databases.  
·         Ensure 24x7x365 database integrity, reliability and sustainability.  
Create database monitoring and operational processes that will continually 
improve the operation of the whole environment.  Respond and resolve data 
issues encountered throughout the 24x7-operating window. 
  
  
Education/Experience: 
  
·         Bachelors Degree in computer science, mathematics or engineering. 
·         6+ years experience in Oracle Data Warehousing, and OLTP 
·         4 or more years experience with mission-critical, high-volume 
databases. 
·         6 or more years experience commercially using Oracle products. Recent 
experience with Oracle 11g.  Oracle Enterprise Manager and MTS, PL/SQL, 
SQL*Loader, stored procedures, db-links, triggers, externalized tables, 
SyncSort, and UNIX shell scripting or scripting style languages. 
·         Experience with configuring and tuning Oracle system parameters and 
SQL scripts. Monitoring and interpreting Oracle performance reporting. 
·         Experience commercially applying data processing tools, such as 
Informatica.  Possesses strong experience with data conversions, EDI, and data 
interfacing. 
·         Experience commercially using database tools and utilities, such as 
ERStudio, Designer 2000, TOAD, etc. 
·         Knowledge of software development lifecycles and associated 
documentation. 
·         Ability to manage time and deliver by project plans. 
·         Effective in self motivated and directed team environments. Ability 
to work both independently and as a part of a team. 
·         Excellent time management skills; ability to organize and work 
efficiently in an atmosphere of changing priorities. 
·         Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.  
Experience communicating with internal personnel and customers.  
·         Strong problem solving skills and an ability to learn rapidly 
on-the-job.  Maintains an attention to detail.  Must analyze complex problems 
and develop recommendations. 
·         5 or more years of industry experience using Software Development 
Lifecycles (SDLC), ISO 9001 practices and the Capability Maturity Model 
(SEI/CMM).  Demonstrated ability to technically improve existing products and 
services or develop new. 
·         Proficiency with MS Office Suite, MS Project, Visio.  Familiarity 
with industry standard project management software packages. 
  
Desired: 
  
·         Oracle Certification 
·         Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture frameworks, components, 
design and planning skills 
·         Experience with OLAP, Data Mining and supporting technologies, such 
as SQL Server Analysis and Metadata Services, Microstrategy, Business Objects. 
·         Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.  
·         Strong problem solving skills and an ability to learn rapidly 
on-the-job.  Must analyze complex problems, develop recommendations and design 
solutions. 
·         Effective in self motivated and directed team environments.
