Summary: Designs and implements logical and physical data models; writes SQL/stored procedures to support application development teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reviews project request describing database needs. Estimates time and effort required accomplishing project tasks. Determines if project requires creating series of new programs or modifying existing programs that access data stored in databases. Attends specification meetings with project teams to determine scope and limitations of projects. Reviews workflow chart developed by Programmers and Analysts to understand key tasks/deliverables. Revises definition of data as defined in data dictionaries (information about data, including name, description, source of data item, and key words for categorizing and searching for data item descriptions). Determines and enters changes to data dictionary descriptions; Writes descriptions of how developers access data; referred to as logical database. Writes physical database descriptions such as location, space requirements, and access method, to protect company data resources against unauthorized access and accidental destruction. Required skills/Toolset experience: 1. Oracle (9i/10g). 2. Business Objects XIR2. 3. Informatica. 4. Solid SQL skills. 5. Unix/Linux platform experience 6.
