Task Description - Describe the work this resource will be expected to accomplish This work is for component C02344 - GIS component with DSS. This is a replacement PAR for George Zhou who works for Geodecisions. We would like to replace George with another Geodecisions person as they have strong strategic skills that compliment our State Farm and offshore sourcing strategy. This person is needed to provide 2 main responsibilities: 1) To serve as a resource to help develop our GIS online mapping architecture and online mapping applications utilizing ARCIMS/ARCGIS and Java/.NET. 2) To serve as a resource to help develop our GIS/Business Intelligence tool and data integration plan Must have: -- Broad industry knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) -- Business Intelligence (BI) development experience -- GIS/BI tool integration experience (like Cognos and Business Objects integration with ESRI) -- GIS/BI data integration experience -- ESRI ArcIMS development and administration (including ArcXML, VB, and .Net) -- ArcIMS integration across different operating system platforms -- ArcGIS desktop software -- GIS integration with business systems -- Preferably .Net and Java experience -- Excellent interpersonal skills (team work skills, business partner relations) -- Excellent communication skills -- Other GIS tool integration with GIS (like Mapinfo/Mappoint) The analyst would be part of a team of analysts developing GIS/BI and web mapping architecture and GIS/BI and web mapping applications. This person is expected to have in-depth technical experience in deploying, supporting, integrating and administering the tools and data. This role involves communicating with business partners and other support areas within and outside of the Systems Department and State Farm. The role would include: -making recommendations for GIS/BI strategy -making recommendations for GIS/BI tool integration and helping to implement the integration -making recommendations for GIS/BI data integration and helping to implement the data integration -making recommendations for GIS webmapping architecture and helping to implement the next steps in our maturity -serving as a lead developer on webmapping applications for our business partners -setup, testing of new GIS/BI tools in our State Farm environment -setup, testing of GIS/BI data integration in SF environment -setup, testing of webmapping applications and architecture in SF environment --consulting on projects and other development efforts across departments -monitoring product performance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, system configuration on newly implemented architecture for GIS/BI or webmapping This role could require 7 x 24 hour support. The analyst will expected to be on a rolling call list to provide after hours support. May be asked to carry cell phone and/or pager. The successful candidate for this role will have considerable experience actually deploying and supporting the tools, rather than using the tools. A minimum of Level 4 customer service and communication skills are required for this role. Because we provide 7 x 24 x 365 support and because we are required to do maintenance on the servers during offshift and service windows (e.g. 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday evenings), we require the ability to adjust the analyst's work schedule so they can work some offshift hours and adjust their day schedule accordingly. That is, the option of adjusting the team's work schedule to let them leave earlier or come in later knowing that they will be working offshift
