Position will be 50% technical (the actual upgrade) and 50% functional (working with business users to determine changes that users will need. Must be able to work with high-level business users! We plan to upgrade and redesign the cube at the same time. We expect it to be about a 4-8 week project. If we find someone strong we would likely have occasional need for addition short-term work. -Essbase is a multidimensional database management system (MDBMS) that provides a multidimensional database platform upon which to build analytic applications . Essbase, whose name derives from "Extended Spread Sheet dataBASE", was originally developed by Arbor Software, which merged with Hyperion Software in 1998 . Hyperion Solutions Corporation was acquired by Oracle Corporation in 2007, so Essbase is now available as Oracle Essbase. Until late 2005, it was also marketed by IBM as DB2 OLAP Server. [1] Hyperion Planning is a budgeting and forecasting application from Oracle formerly owned by Hyperion Solutions Corporation. Hyperion Planning uses Essbase (a multidimensional database product sold by Hyperion) as a database and calculation engine, and includes a web-based user interface. Hyperion Solutions Corporation was purchased by Oracle Corporation in March 2007. [1] Our client is upgrading to Hyperion System 9 from Essbase version 7; and is seeking expertise to complete the upgrade.
