Are we optimizing for shell convenience over desktop convenience?

Ok, how about using _ for space and + to separate the version?

I think that pluses in place of spaces really look ugly.

When children copy a journal entry to a USB stick, the notes and tags
are lost. Children often use USB sticks to interchange data or to
preserve documents (apparently the Journal still has frequent data
losses).

In the future, we could think of a "Journals everywhere" feature: let
children initialize any removable media as a secondary journal. Pie in
the sky: mount your journal from the xs using fish or nfs.
