Good to hear. Now that you know you were using pre-release beta firmware and software, you might investigate the released software from OLPC and OLPC AU.
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Release_notes/13.2.0 is the latest release from OLPC. Gonzalo gave a pointer for what OLPC AU are using.
