Clock activity (sugar-clock) and Speak (sugar-speak) use gstreamer only to do text to speech, Memorize (sugar-memorize) use it to do text to speech and to play sounds. Would be good use the text to speech feature included in sugar toolkit gtk3 [1] then you don't need port the activities again in the future.
