I am not sure if this is what you're looking for, but here is one way to
create as many fake XOs as you want from Avahi on any Linux PC:

avahi-publish-service put_a_name_here _presence_olpc._tcp 37304
color=#F09C23,#F3E3F3

...put whatever colors you like in the last argument and pick a unique name
for each instance.
