we fully agree, but there doesn't appear to be a saner default behavior for FRS. Specifically, in the absence of datastore versioning, switching to 'resume by default' would effectively kill the journal; adding a per-activity flag would add confusion and break consistency. After FRS, we intend to very carefully consider this issue. It's non- trivial, and interactions with multiple activity instances, bulk data, volatile state, etc all need to be considered. The current tentative plan is to have a Journal Summit as soon as FRS is out the door and the immediate post-FRS activities quiet down a bit. You would certainly be invited.
