Only a pulsing icon in the middle of the screen is drawn, but if time is in X, I guess it is just pushing white pixels around with some conversion in the middle. But this only happens in the faster builds that have composition enabled. Wonder what can be going on in there... On joyride, the shell just takes a few percents of cpu during launch, so perhaps it's good enough for now.
