Hello Mathew, I have some tip that might help you.
If you want to just use Sumo and not develop it, you could use wine  (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_%28software%29 and
http://www.winehq.org/) to run it.
I do that on my mac and so far I didn't find any problems.
