Hello Tom, SUMO (or rather NETCONVERT) uses the same geometry model as OSM. It takes all geometry points along a <way> or <edge> and connects them with straight lines. Thus you can approximate curves (visually) as closely as you want but need to expend some effort to compute radii. Within intersections, geometries are computed using splines with a configurable number of geometry points. What I’m tracking down is an issue where the position in the dump file is larger than the sum of the straight-line segments in the edge (or actually the lane). The position can be up to 3 meters larger, and I was guessing (hoping?) that this was due to SUMO using curved lanes rather than straight segments. Any ideas on where the “position greater than the sum of segments” might come from?
