E2 detectors spanning multiple (consecutive) lanes are already supported by
SUMO (see attribute 'lanes' at
http://sumo.dlr.de/wiki/Simulation/Output/Lanearea_Detectors_(E2)). For
neighboring lanes you need to define multiple detectors.
Also, Netedit does not yet support defining detectors that span consecutive
lanes.

If the entry lanes only target the exit lanes (and do not have connections
to another edge) you can use an e3 detector to measure the timeloss.
However, most of the time it is sufficient to measure the timeLoss on the
entry lanes for determining the efficiency of a controller.
