The src release alone won't do anything.
If you are on windows, you can download the pre-compiled executables (
https://sumo.dlr.de/daily/sumo-win64-git.zip)
and on Linux/Mac you need to build sumo from the src files as explained
here: https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Developer/Main.html#build_instructions
