With your current approach you are losing a large number of OSM attributes which are relevant for network building. If you just want to fix the roundabout problem, split the shape into two shapes. Consider doing your modifications on the .net.xml file (i.e. with netedit) or patches ( https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Tutorials/ScenarioGuide.html#modifying_the_network) or even at the OSM stage with JOSM.
