Hi Soheil,
if you want to keep the original departure times, you can write the trips
directly in a .rou.xml file. Just generate an ID for each trip and provide
the origin TAZ, the destination TAZ and the departure time as attributes,
just like has been done for a single trip in the docs
<https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Definition_of_Vehicles%2C_Vehicle_Types%2C_and_Routes.html#incomplete_routes_trips_and_flows>
. You can automate this depending on the format of your survey data. The
travel time of a single trip is an output of sumo, not an input. If you
know the exact route of the empiric trips, you could use it for routing
weights, but that's a different story.
Best regards
Mirko

Betreff: [sumo-user] trip generation with origin destination TAZs and
departure time

Hi all,
I have a list of trips for my network based on a household survey. For each
trip, we have origin TAZ, destination TAZ, departure time, and travel time.
What I need is a .rou.xml file (in which we have origin/destination edges)
to use in my simulation as the demand input.

Previously, my lab mate used to generate simple OD tables (without using
departure/arrival time) and then use od2trips command. This method however
has too much randomness and cannot reflect the trip data we have in the
best way. Since I'm new to SUMO, I found my objective too confusing and I
would very appreciate any help from you.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Soheil
