I included the flow definitions per your advice and it works. Thank you . 
However, 

1) see that in spite of using JTRrouter, I have to explicitly mention the edges 
for cars to take in "flows" XML file. Otherwise , they all take a single route .

2) is there a way to define "vehicle type ID", "speed" , "accel" and "decel" 
parameter values for cars in flows file? Since rou.xml is the output file when 
using JTRrouter I don't know where to specify the aforementioned parameters.
