Hello,

it is not difficult. You need Xcode with the Command-Line-Tools (get it from 
the App store). 
You need first Homebrew (http://brew.sh/) and install with "brew install fox 
gdal proj xerces-c" the recommend libraries.
Download and install XQuartz http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/  for the 
GUI.

At the end you need to download the Sumo sources and build Sumo itself with
export CPPFLAGS="$CPPFLAGS -I/usr/local/include -I/usr/X11R6/include"
export LDFLAGS="$LDFLAGS -L/usr/local/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib"
and 
./configure --prefix=/Users/myUser/.bin/sumo)
after that you run "make install".
