Hello SUMO
community,

I'm simulating
a three lane highway but all the cars go to the leftmost lane, causing a huge
jam. While searching for the reasons that may explain this behavior I
encountered the "Proceedings of the SUMO2014 modeling mobility with open
data"
(http://sumo.dlr.de/2014/Proceeding_SUMO2014_15+16May2014_Berlin-Adlershof.pdf)
from which I could start understanding the lane changing model implemented by
SUMO.

Every vehicle wants to have the highest speed possible
(safest speed) for a given edge and that causes them to choose the leftmost
lane (all of my vehicles top speed is much higher than the lane limit) for
obvious reasons. They tend to stay in that lane until they approach their exit
from the net, at which point they move to the right and leave. The problem that
I have is that because SUMO doesn't allow vehicles to overtake on the right by
law, if a car is stuck in the leftmost lane, it cannot move to the right lane
even if its empty.

Version 0.21.0 of SUMO has the option to allow overtaking
on the right with the command "lanechange.overtake-right value="true" ", but the
simulation is still acting up. I'm putting the command in the .cfg file as
follows:

<processing>

<lanechange.overtake-right value="true"/>

    </processing>

While it doesn't
gives me any errors when I execute the GUI, vehicles are still waiting on a
lane fully occupied instead of changing to an empty one.
-Is this the correct
method for putting this command?-How can I
change other lane changing model's parameters? From the cfg file? -Is there
another way to solve this lane preference?

Thank you for your
help and patience.
