The behavior you are seeing is based upon the spreadType of the edge (
http://sumo.dlr.de/wiki/Networks/Building_Networks_from_own_XML-descriptions#Edge_Descriptions
)
By default, edge geometry is the middle of the two-directional road with
lanes spreading to the right.
Vehicles drive in the center of the lane. Hence, with wider lanes you get a
different turning radius. If you set the edge attribute
laneSpread="center" than a single lane will be centered on the edge
geometry and the route length will be independent of the lane width.
