This can be accomplished by setting custom edge shapes. The easiest way to define those is by using NETEDIT. Use move mode to create edge geometry points where the edge of the intersection should be, then right-click on the geometry point and select 'set geometry endpoint here' see http://sumo.dlr.de/wiki/NETEDIT#Move and http://sumo.dlr.de/wiki/NETEDIT#Edge_and_Lane
