Hello,
- you can use 'stdout' or 'host:port'  as a filename and filter the file
while it is being generated with an attached process of your own design.
(see
http://sumo.dlr.de/wiki/Basics/Using_the_Command_Line_Applications#Generating_and_Reading_Files
)
- you can save the simulation state and then load it to continue the
simulation with a different output file name (see
http://sumo.dlr.de/wiki/Simulation/SaveAndLoad)
