Hello Sundial List:
Here is a photo I took yesterday of my fully assembled Sundial Cupola.  The first one in the Western Hemisphere!
We assembled it in my shop just to make sure that the pieces fit together well before we take it apart and lift the
component pieces up onto the building roof next Sunday.  (I'm going to investigate renting a movable type of scaffold
called a "scissor lift").
Let me tell you, this cupola was a lot easier to build than it was to design!  Like my stained glass Gecko Dial,
it probably took four times longer to design it than it did to build it. Dave Bell will testify to that since he
posted about twenty revisions of the Construction Plans.  So if time is money, I probably didn't save any money
by building it myself. But it sure was fun to make! So if you like carpentry, you can make your own using my
free construction plans and Assembly Instructions found on the Sundial Cupola website. Or you can order one from
a cupola manufacturer.
I've only made one of the cupola's four sundials because I wanted see if I could build the cupola first before
spending more money on 3 additional porcelain sundials. So after we install it next week, I will immediately
make the other three sundials.
There should be more of these!

Hope you like it that that this one inspires the construction of more of them.

thanks,
