Friends,

After help from dialists in Spain I have made contact with Villalcor.
Regular recipients of this list will remember that I wrote in late August
about the sundials I had seen for sale in Fuerteventura whilst on holiday there.

I have received an interesting colour catalogue showing some 30-40 copies of
antique scientific instruments including sundials, astrolabes, nocturnals
and armillary spheres.

Interestingly, they have a well set out Web page showing the pages from
their catalogue that I have received, plus a great deal more, such as copies
of old binoculars. They also seem to sell other products that are not
anything to do with old scientific instruments. The web page is in Spanish,
but one can make out a great deal of what is available from the illustrations.

I could find nothing on Villalcor using search engines like Alta Vista and
Lycos so I suspect that the site has not been registered with them. That
idea is confirmed by the fact that they have only had 200 or so 'hits'
during the summer.

I would certainly recommend dialists to have a look at their site. The

Their Email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Their postal address is
Villalcor, S.L.,
Taller de Instrumentos Antiguos,

I would be interested in comments from dialists who are more knowledgeable
than myself as to the accuracy of these copies of what purport to be dials
from the 15th and 16th centuries.
