<<...and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to
copyright the design....>>

Not sure in which country you live but in the UK you do not register
copyright but rather you claim it by making sure that the design,
article, work etc or whatever it is is marked to ensure that it you
indeed do claim copyright. Again in the UK and I believe in those
countries who are signatories to the international copyright conventions
(see note below) you merely need to say:

Copyright Anthony Cordasco 1997

In the UK the copyright symbol ) can also be used too, viz:

) Anthony Cordasco 1997

This will give 'protection' to those aspects of the design that are not
in the public domain - like the physical design and appearance. It will
not of course restrict anyone performing the samecalculations relating
to the line positions etc. You yourself will of course have to prove
any violation in a court before having the chance of getting any
recompense...

Note: Most European (and all EU I think!!) countries are signatories to
all of these international conventions but elsewhere oddities can arise.
The US is not a signatory to all of the conventions but it is to some
and in general the protection you seek should be there.

In some countries you can also register the design though this costs
money (maybe each year too) and is only sensible if you are in business
with the particular product.

Hope this helps

Patrick
